INNOVATION AWARD - APPLICATION FORM (229 KB Word Document)
NOTE: All nominations must be received by Friday, February 17, 2012.

Any person within the Government of Canada, as well as the general public, is eligible to make a nomination. Self-nominations are also accepted.

Qualities:
The nominee should exhibit one or more of these qualities:

  • Demonstrated innovative thinking and/or exemplary delivery of financial management and/or comptrollership services that leads to higher productivity.
  • Developed “best practices” in financial management and/or comptrollership services that have been shared within the Government of Canada and/or other public sector entities.
  • Created “thought leadership” material in the area of financial management and/or comptrollership services.

Scope of Achievement:
An emphasis will be placed on the scope of the achievement/initiative and how the initiative’s strategy incorporated sound financial management and comptrollership. For example, is it confined to one department or has it been applied across several?

Magnitude of Achievement:
An emphasis will be placed on the magnitude/extent of the achievement. For example, did it result in savings? Did it increase revenues and/or efficiencies? Was the initiative scalable?

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the innovation award, the nominee must be:

  • A federal public servant or team working in a government department or agency, including Crown corporations.
  • A retired federal public servant, who worked in a government department and/or agency, including Crown corporations, provided they retired less than one year prior to the deadline for receiving nominations.

NOTE: Elected officials and Order-in-Council appointees are not eligible.

Nomination/Selection Process:

  1. Each nominator may submit only one nominee (individual).
  2. The recipient(s) will be selected by a distinguished selection committee comprised of senior public servants and industry experts.
  3. Individuals may be re-nominated in future years, based on a significant contribution that they made in the time frame of that year’s award.
  4. All nominations must be received by Friday, February 17, 2012.
