NOTE: All nominations must be received by Friday, February 17, 2012.

Any person within the Government of Canada, as well as the general public, is eligible to make a nomination. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Qualities:
The nominee should exhibit excellence and/or leadership in the areas of accounting, management and strategy.

Nominees will be evaluated based on their level of competence in all of these areas as detailed in the application form:

  • strategic management
  • risk management and governance
  • performance management
  • performance measurement
  • financial management
  • financial reporting
  • problem solving and decision making
  • leadership and group dynamics
  • professionalism and ethical behaviour
  • communication

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Financial Leadership (CFO) award, the nominee must be:

  • A federal public servant in the role of Chief Financial Officer working in a government department or agency, including Crown corporations.

In addition, a letter of reference is required from the deputy minister or head of the agency/department.

Nomination/Selection Process:

  1. Each nominator may submit only one nominee (individual) for consideration.
  2. The nominee is judged on the areas outlined in the award criteria. There is no specific time frame.
  3. The recipient will be selected by a distinguished selection committee comprised of senior public servants and industry experts.
  4. Individuals may be re-nominated in future years.
  5. All nominations must be received by Friday, February 17, 2012.
