The Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO)

The Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO) is the professional association and certified bargaining agent representing the more than 4,600 Financial Officers (FIs) employed in both the federal public service and at NAV CANADA.

These financial professionals are primarily involved in the planning, development, analysis, delivery and management of internal public service financial policies, programs, services and other related activities. Many hold financial designations.

Financial Officers have more responsibilities and abilities than number crunching alone. They are required to be strategic thinkers, project managers and program deliverers. They are called upon to provide insights into their numbers; to share how and why their calculations are applied within the context of a program or department, and to ensure compliance with the Government of Canada Financial Control Framework.
